ABOUT HOTEL BAIAZINHA ECO LODGE - ACTIVITIES & SAMPLE PROGRAM
ECO-TOURISM

The Pantanal biome is considered one of the largest continuous wetlands on the planet.

In its territorial space, the biome, which is an alluvial plain, is influenced by rivers that drain the Upper Paraguay basin.

Studies indicate that the biome is home to the following numbers of species cataloged: 

  • 263 species of fish,

  • 41 species of amphibians

  • 13 species of reptiles

  • 463 species of birds

  • 132 species of mammals, 2 of which are endemic. 

According to Embrapa Pantanal, almost two thousand plant species have already been identified in the biome and classified according to their potential, and some have vigorous medicinal potential.

 

SAMPLE 5-Day/4-Night Program

Day 01: transfer from Cuiabá Airport to Hotel Baiazinha (overland - 190 km of asphalt and 70 km of dirt road) // or transfer from Cuiabá Airport to Cáceres (overland 200 km) and from Cáceres to Hotel Baiazinha (waterway - motorboat Marajó 100 km downstream);

 

Day 02: Full day boat trip in search of birds and wildlife. It is possible to find monkeys, capybaras, Jacaré, tuiuiú, herons, vultures and, if we are lucky, the indescribable jaguar! We will return for lunch and dinner at the Hotel. After dinner, we will go on a night safari in search of nocturnal animals;

 

Day 03: A short walk on the Baiazinha trail in search of birds and reptiles after breakfast. Return for a short boat ride to the Bay of Mares, where you can see otters, black-necked falcon, osprey and jaguar! Come back for lunch. In the afternoon we will take another boat trip to explore the Paraguay River, its bays and canals. Many birds, capybaras, alligators can be found. Of course, there is always a chance to see some kittens (Jaguar) . After dinner we will do another night safari in search of nightlife;

 

Day 04: After breakfast we will explore bays and canals in search of the jaguar. After lunch, we will continue the tour and if you wish we can be doing a piranha fishing where we will make the piranha sashimi . At the end of the day we can watch a beautiful sunset!

 

Day 05: after breakfast return to Cuiabá airport!


They are all walks close to the Hotel and all with the possibility of seeing the jaguar. But, if you prefer, we may be including a tour in the Taiamã Reserve.
