Wine Heritage
Santa Rita Winery is one of Chile’s oldest and most traditional wineries. It imported its first fine French grape varieties in 1880, and its wines and winemakers have been internationally recognized ever since. It has earned many important accolades and honors over the years, including being named Wine & Spirits magazine’s “Winery of the Year,” and it is the only winery in South America to receive the Decanter magazine “Wine Legend” Award for its 1989 Casa Real icon wine.

Historic Heritage
Santa Rita has long had strong ties to the history of Chile for diverse reasons, such as its part in the nation’s battle for independence. In 1814, 120 patriots took refuge in Doña Paula Jaraquemada’s home, which is now the Doña Paula Restaurant. Santa Rita Winery is famous 120 brand was named in honor of these brave men. Another important moment occurred 70 years later, when the founder’s daughter, María Luisa Fernández Concha Bascuñán, married Vicente García Huidobro in the chapel that stands beside the hotel. The couple had numerous children, including the famous Chilean poet Vicente Huidobro.
