ITINERARY (Subject to change without notice):
Thursday - Depart USA: Depart Miami, New York or Los Angeles on overnight flight.
Friday - Arrive Buenos Aires: Morning arrival. Meet and transfer to your hotel in the heart of the city. In the afternoon, visit the main points of interest in Buenos Aires, a sophisticated European style city often called the Paris of South America. Drive down the widest boulevard on earth, 9 de Julio, visit the Plaza de Mayo and colorful La Boca among other places. Accommodations will be at the renowned Alvear Palace in fashionable Recoleta.
Saturday - Buenos Aires: Day at leisure to explore at your own pace. In the morning stroll Calle Florida, lined with tea houses, shops and leather boutiques, and in the afternoon explore the street market in Recoleta or the antique shops in historic San Telmo. This evening you'll want to have dinner in one of he popular steak houses and then take in one of the city's tango and folkloric shows. (B)
Sunday - Buenos Aires - Punta del Este: Transfer to the airport for your short flight to Punta del Este, the "Jet Set" resort of South America. Upon arrival, meeting and transfer to your hotel for three night stay. This afternoon you'll enjoy a guided visit to the main points of interest in this resort city with suburbs referred to as "the Beverly Hills of Punta del Este" and mansions to rival any in the world. The city it renowned for its fashion, sophistication and its incomparable nightlife. (B)
NOTE: You can choose the hotel you prefer - the modern Conrad Resort & Casino or the small charming L'Auberge.
Monday - Punta del Este: Today you will have the entire day at leisure to explore at your own pace. You may want to join the "see and be-seens" on the beaches or in the casinos. Or stroll the center of town sprinkled with leather boutiques and shops. (B)
Tuesday - Punta del Este: Another full day to relax and enjoy this resort city. You might want to arrange for a day of sailing or to take an excursion out to Gorriti island for a day of sunshine and peaceful beaches or a motorlaunch excursion to Isla de Lobos with a huge sea lion colony that is in residence all year. (B)
Wednesday - Punta del Este - San Pedro de Timote: Morning departure by private car for three hour drive through the scenic countryside to "Hotel de Campo" San Pedro de Timote for two night stay with all meals and estancia activities included. Founded in 1854, the estancia was declared a Historical National Monument in 1997. There is also a swimming pool, tennis and paddle courts and hydro-massage rooms with a variety of therapy treatments which you can arrange for directly with the hotel if pampering yourself is your desire. Thursday - San Pedro de Timote: A full day to enjoy the activities offered by the estancia or simply to relax and enjoy the countryside. (B/L/)
Friday - San Pedro de Timote - Montevideo: One last morning to enjoy the fresh country air and then in the afternoon two hour transfer to Montevideo for two night stay.
NOTE: You can choose to stay at the new modern Sheraton Montevideo or the small Belmont House, both located in the fashionable Carrasco area.
Saturday - Montevideo: Morning drive through the old city, which has remained virtually unchanged since the last century, to the Legislative Palace, the Rose Garden with monument of "La Diligencia", the summit of Cerro Montevideo for a panoramic vista of the city and many other places of interest. Then enjoy lunch at the old port market, with many small restaurants specializing in "asado" (traditional country barbeque) under one huge roof. (C/L)
Sunday - Montevideo - Colonia: Morning drive two hours to Colonia, the first city founded in Uruguay and once a completely walled city. Enjoy a visit to the historic old city center and then check-in at the charming Hotel Plaza Mayor right in the heart of the old town. Afternoon at leisure to explore at your own pace. (B)
Monday - Colonia - Buenos Aires: Morning at leisure to continue your explorations of Colonia and then in the afternoon you'll board the "river-plane" (large hydrofoil complete with snack bar and duty free shopping facilities) for one hour crossing of the Rive Plat back to the port of Buenos Aires. Meeting and transfer to the Alvear Palace in the heart of the city for overnight. (B)
Tuesday - Depart Buenos Aires: You'll have the entire day at leisure to explore at your own pace, do that last minute leather or antique shopping. Your room is paid for late check-out so no need to hurry through the day. Evening transfer to the airport to check-in for your overnight flight back to the USA. (B)
Wednesday - Arrive USA: Arrive your USA gateway city, clear immigrations and customs and make connections to your home city.
