ITINERARY (Subject to change without notice):
Day 1 - Depart Miami: Evening departure on overnight flight to Argentina.
Day 2 - Arrive Buenos Aires:
Morning arrival. Meeting and transfer to the Alvear Palace
in fashionable Recoleta for 2 nights with buffet breakfast daily. Afternoon city tour to
main points of interest in Buenos Aires, often called "The
Paris of South America. Visit the Plaza de Mayo with the Casa Rosada (equivalent to our
White House), the Cabildo and City Hall; drive down the widest avenue on earth, 9 de
Julio, past the Obelisk and the famed Opera House. Visit historic San Telmo district,
Puerto Madero, Palermo Park and historic Recoleta Cemetery. (B)
Day 3 - Buenos Aires: Day at leisure to explore at your own pace.
You can explore the antique shops in historic San Telmo, or the shops in fashionable
Recoleta or arrange for an optional tour into the "pampas" to one of the
estancias for a visit to the estancia and a chance to learn about life on an estancia and
the history and legends of the Gaucho with typical "asado" barbecue lunch,
entertainment and perhaps some Gaucho activities. This evening enjoy a cabaret style tango
show at the Rojo Tango Experience, including
transfers and dinner. (B/DS)
Day 4 - Buenos Aires - Bariloche: Transfer to the airport for flight
across the Pampas to the edge of the Andes and the summer-winter resort town of
Bariloche, on the shores of lake Nahuel Huapi. Meeting and transfer to Hotel Llao Llao for two night stay. (B)
Day 5 - Bariloche: Day at leisure to explore this charming Alpine-style summer and winter resort town at your own pace or arrange for golf or a spa visit at the hotel. (B)
Day 6 - Bariloche - Petrohue area: Today you will enjoy a full day of travel in the scenic Lake District. Board your modern motorlaunch and cruise Lake Nahuel Huapi in sight of snow-capped mountains and rich green forests, to Puerto Blest before continuing on across the Lake District via motorcoach and motorlaunch to Peulla. Then continue your crossing of the scenic Lake District via motorlaunch and motorcoach, arriving at Petrohue port. Meeting by the staff from YanKee Way Lodge, visit to Petrohue falls and transfer to YanKee Way Lodge for dinner and overnight. (B/D)
Day 7 - Petrohue area - Puerto Montt - Punta Arenas - Paine Towers National Park: Morning transfer by YanKee Way staff to the Puerto Montt airport for flight south along the Andes to Punta Arenas where the Explora van will meet you for five hour drive north to Paine Towers National Park for four night stay at the Hotel Explora. (B/L/D)
Please NOTE: During your stay you will enjoy all meals, an open bar and a daily menu of excursions. Each night the resident guides will discuss the options for activities the next day - they range from half day, easy excursions to full day, difficult excursions and include walks, hikes, treks, horseback riding and motorlaunch excursions. The excursions are designed to give you ample time to explore the beauties of the park. Explora also has its own stables and offers a variety of horseback excursions in the park.
Day 8 - Paine Towers National Park: Today enjoy excursions as offered by the Hotel Explora. (B/L/D)
Day 9 - Paine Towers National Park: Once again, enjoy excursions as offered by the hotel. (B/L/D)

Day 11 - Paine Towers National Park - Parque Nacional Los Glaciares: Morning transfer by Hotel Explora to the Cerro Castillo border crossing with Argentina where the staff from Hotel Los Notros will pick you up and transfer you five hours across the Patagonian steppes to the Parque Nacional Los Glaciares, an hour outside of El Calafate. Your three night stay at Hoosteria Los Notros in the park includes all meals and a choice of daily activities. (B/D)
Day 12 - Parque Nacional Los Glaciares: Today you can choose form activities and excursions as offered by Hosteria Los Notros. (B/L/D)

Day 14 - Parque Nacional Los Glaciares - Ushuaia: Morning drive to the airport at El Calafate for flight south to Ushuaia at the tip of fabled Tierra del Fuego. Meeting upon arrival and transfer to your hotel, the Hotel Las Hayas majestically set high up above the city offering spectacular views of the city, channel and mountains. In the afternoon visit to the main points of interest in this southernmost city on earth. (B)
Day 15 - Embarkation on M/V Mare Australis: Morning excursionon the Train at the End of the World, a historic and scenic journey, and on to Lapataia Bay in Tierra del Fuego National park, with lunch and eventual late afternoon transfer to the port for 5PM embarkation on the M/V Mare Australis. (B/L/D)
NOTE: Departure day from Ushuaia might be Wednesday on the Mare Australis or Saturday (Sunday beginning September 2006) on the sistership Via Australis, totally dependent on what works in conjunction with Explora set entry dates. The cruise itineraries are essentially the same. If necessary the itinerary may be reversed in order to coordinate the cruise and Explora.
Day 16 - Cruising Patagonia: Morning navigation through the Beagle Channel and Murray Channel to Cape Horn National Park for debarkation and visit. Cape Horn is and island with a natural sea wall of almost 425 meters high. It's beaches and steep cliffs support a variety of birds, including kelp gees, steamer ducks and blac-browned albatros. It marks the southernmost point of South America and extends into Drake Passage, the antarctic strait connecting the South Atlantic and South Pacific oceans. Later in the day visit the historic Walaia Bay, one of the most important indigenous sites of the region.
Day 17 - Cruising Patagonia: Morning cruise to the Bay of the Gunter Plushow Glacier where you will disembark for a hike near the glacier. Then continue cruising through channels of O'Brian and Ballenero, Desolada Bay, Paso Aguirre and Breakneck Channel. (B/L/D)
Day 18 - Debarkation, Punta Arenas and fly to Santiago: Early morning visit to Magdalena Island with an enormous Magellan penguin colony with over 120,000 in different stages of breeding and historic San Isidro Lighthouse. Return cruise to Punta Arenas for debarkation and transfer to the airport where you catch your flight north along the Andes to to Santiago. Meeting and transfer to the Santiago Ritz Carlton for two night stay. (B)

Day 19 - Santiago: Morning visit to the main points of interest in Santiago, including the old residential area of the city, Club Hipico race track, Cousino Palace, along fashionable Alameda by the Union Club to Santa Lucia Hill and continue up San Cristobal Hill for a bird's-eye vista of the city and nearby Andes and visit the Pre-Columbian Museum. Also visit the Wine House for a complete introduction to the wines of Chile. Then drive out into Maipo Valley to the Santa Rita Vineyards for lunch at Dona Paula's followed by a visit to the vineyard installations. Late afternoon return to Santiago. (B/L)
Day 20 - Depart Santiago: Day at leisure to explore at your own pace - your room is paid for late check-out so no need to hurry through the day. Evening transfer to the airport for your return overnight flight to Miami. (B)
Day 21 - Arrive Miami: Morning arrival in Miami. Clear customs and immigrations and make connections to your home city.
