ITINERARY (Subject to change without notice):
DAY 01 - USA - Panama: Upon arrival in the "Crossroads of the Americas," Panama, you will be met and transferred to your hotel, The Bristol, for your first two nights.DAY 02 Panama: Full day excursion that begins with an early morning transfer into the former Canal Zone area to board a ship that will provide a partial transit of the Panama Canal, sometimes referred to as the "Eighth Wonder of the World." You will actually pass the Miraflores Locks, into the Gaillard Cut and into Pedro Miguel locks. At Pedro Miguel you debark and continue by surface to the Visitor's Center at Miraflores, with four exhibition halls (history, water, canal in action and canal in the world). From the "Zone" area, your visit will take you to both the old and modern sections of this capital city. Visit the famed ruins of Old Panama founded in 1521 and sacked by Henry Morgan. The old section dating back to the 1600's is in Casco Viejo, houses the Presidential Palace, National Cathedral; visit the famed Gold Alter. Lunch will be included en route. (B/L)
DAY 03 Panama-Valle de Anton: Cross the Bridge of the Americas and drive two hours into the cool highlands of El Valle, where many Panamanians have weekend homes. We'll visit the quaint Sunday farmers & artisans market (market only takes place on Sundays). Continue for an exhilarating adventure on the Canopy Tour as you zip along the rainforest tree tops from platform to platform. Check into your hotel in El Valle for the night, Los Mandarinos, a small boutique hotel with spa facilities. (B)
DAY 04 Valle de Anton-Boquete: Your local host will drive you westward along the Pan American Highway to David and the cut-off that will take you to the Panamanian highlands (lunch will be en route) and the beautiful Boquete valley (considered one of the worlds best places to live/retire) and your charming mountain inn, Panamonte Inn & Spa. (B/L)
DAY 05 - Boquete: Today you can select between enjoying a exhilarating experience white water rafting on the Chiriqui River which has some of the best rapids (class II-V) in the world. In case you do not want rafting, then you will enjoy a hike on the Quetzal Trail. Hiking through primary forest, full of orchids, rivers, waterfalls in search of the elusive quetzal. Picnic lunch provided on either excursion (B/L)
DAY 06 Boquete-David-Bocas del Toro: Your host will drive you to the airport in David (about 1-hour drive) where you will board the flight to Isla Colon in Bocas del Toro, where you will be met by your hosts of Tranquilo Bay, board the boat for the 45-minute ride to the lodge. (B/L/D)
DAY 07 - Bocas del Toro: During your stay at Tranquilo Bay, you will have a selection of activities to chose from as part of your stay. (B/L/D)
DAY 08 Bocas del Toro: Selection of activities available (B/L/D)
DAY 09 - Bocas del Toro-Panama: Today you will fly back to Panama City for your last night at the Hotel Bristol before returning home. (B)
DAY 10 Panama-USA: At the appropriate time you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight to the USA. (B)
