The Rio InterContinental Hotel is one of the few resort style hotels in Rio because it was built originally outside of the main part of town where land was available.

Today it is considered well located and it is privileged to have room for 3 swimming pools, gardens and terraces. It sits perpendicular to the beach so all of the 500 rooms and suites, each with private balcony, have some kind of a lateral view of the beach and ocean.
