Hacienda del Mar is a family owned and operated eco-resort
and fishing lodge located on the privately owned tropical island of San Jose in the Pearl
Islands off the Pacific coast of Panama. This private 14,000 acre island have over 37
different white sandy beaches and is approximately20 minutes by air from Panama City.
The resort consists of 14 cabanas, each with its own balcony offering breathtaking
panoramic views of the beach, ocean and the lush green vegetation of the island. There is
a selection of singles, Junior Suites and VIP cabana, constructed with finest Panamanian
"caņa blanca" and pine wood. Large screened windows with wooden louvers give
full access to the breathtaking ocean views and gentle floral scented breezes. Cabanas
feature full and king sized beds, optional air conditioning, powered lights and ceiling
fans, large private bathrooms with hot showers and the freshest water, a mini refrigerator
stocked with refreshments. Coffee and tea making facilities are available in VIP cabanas.
The Clubhouse is built 75 feet above the Pacific upon a majestic point with sweeping
vistas of the ocean and beach at every turn.There is a full restaurant featuring fresh
seafood caught daily in the waters surrounding the island. There is a full sports bar with
a pool table, Direct TV, darts and table games. There is a pool with lounge chairs,
tables, hammocks, sauna and restroom. There is also a small library, snack bar and gym.
Available activities include swimming and sunbathing, fishing, snorkeling, kayaking,
hiking and trekking, skiing, water skiing, mountain biking and just plain old exploring in
your own golf cart. ATV tours twice a day through 60 miles of all weather roads and
trails, canoe tours on the rivers and marshes, wild life safari tours (day and night),
scuba diving tours and deep sea and shore fishing tours are available. Wildlife is
abundant on the island and includes deer, boars, agoutis, ant eaters, iguanas, turtles,
parrots, sea hawks and other birdlife.
Fishing is a highlight - fourteen world record billfish (marlin) have been caught off the
waters of San Jose and The Outdoor Channel's World Wide Fishing Guide television show is
filming there in July 2002 and will air 12 episodes over AT&T cable, Cox and Time
Warner.
