ABOUT THE GAMBOA RAINFOREST RESORT - in their own words:
Gamboa Rainforest Resort is a luxury destination resort located on the Panama Canal, in the heart of the lush Panamanian rainforest. Our resort has been carefully designed to provide a variety of educational and adventure experiences. Exploring the rainforest has never been easier, since all of our attractions and most of our tours are found right on our property, or only minutes away from your doorstep.

Gamboa Rainforest Resort is located within the Soberania National Park, 30 minutes away from Panama City on the Pacific Coast, and 30 minutes from the Colon Free Zone on the Caribbean. It also lies along the banks of the Chagres River and Gatun Lake, the main water sources for the Panama Canal and part of Panama's most precious assets.

The Soberania National Park is a tropical rainforest where a vast diversity of flora, mammals, birds, insects and reptiles coexist in one of the world's most complete ecosystems. To help you better understand the complexity of this remarkable ecosystem, we have created several exhibits to showcase the vast diversity of the rainforest's flora and fauna. Strolling along the pathways and trails located throughout our resort, you'll discover a variety of educational exhibits, each one designed to explain a different element of the rainforest. You can visit our freshwater fish aquarium, orchid and botanical gardens, butterfly nursery, turtle and iguana nesting areas, a reptile exhibit, historical and cultural displays, or sign up for various nature and observation tours. For a bird's eye view of the Soberania National Park and Panama Canal, climb aboard our specially designed aerial tram and glide quietly through the rainforest canopy where you'll encounter plants and animals rarely seen by visitors on the ground. But your appreciation of this tropical environment doesn't have to stop at the forest floor. Our first class marina provides tours of the Chagres River and Lake Gatun, sport fishing trips for peacock bass and other exotic freshwater species (catch and release only), kayaking trips, and tours to the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute on Barro Colorado Island.

The Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI) plays an important role in the development of our educational exhibits and tours. In addition to providing information for the exhibits, STRI also helps train our guides and assists in the resort's mission to increase conservation awareness. The resort's exhibition spaces will also be research sites for resident .

The accommodations at the resort consist of 38 one and two bedroom air-conditioned, renovated villas and a new, 107 room luxury hotel. The villas, originally built in the 1930's and 40's, are the former residences of Panama Canal administrators and their families and have been completely refurbished to capture the ambiance of the original buildings. The main hotel facility is comprised of 107 deluxe, air-conditioned river front rooms, each offering spectacular views of the Chagres River and the surrounding Soberania National Park.

Gamboa and the surrounding Panama Canal area have been protected and preserved for over a century, and large tracts of tropical rainforest, rich in biodiversity, are host to thriving plant and animal populations. ACCOMMODATIONS: The Hotel's Main Building was built in the year 2000 with spacious modern rooms according to the highest hotel standards of a five star property. All of the rooms and suites come with minibar, electronic safe deposit box, satellite TV, crystal showers, hair dryers, makeup mirror, iron/ iron board, coffee/ coffee makers, monogrammed robes, fire protection system and balconies overlooking the Chagres River and the Rainforest.

ROOMS:
Garden Views Rooms: Our Garden View Rooms overlook the resort's botanical garden and the swimming pool, to which they are conveniently located next to. The rooms have one Queen size bed, bathrooms with showers and private balconies.  (Maximun Capacity in existing Beds: 2 Adults)

Deluxe River View Rooms: The highlight of the Deluxe River View Rooms is it's hammock in the large private balcony. The views of the Chagres River and the Soberania National Park are simply astonishing and relaxing. The rooms are oversized and come with either two Double Beds or one King Size Bed and the spacious bathroom with shower has been exquisitely designed with details. SUITES:
Jr. Suites: The Junior Suites are ideal for families with children. These Suites have two floors, one main room with a King Size Bed, a living area and bathroom, which is connected to a loft through a spiral staircase where there are two twin size beds and a second bathroom. There is a total of 13 Junior Suites in the Resort, all of which are located at the top floor of the Resort, and just like the Deluxe River View Rooms, the Junior Suites come with large private balconies and a hammock with spectacular views of the Rainforest. Deluxe River View Suites: The Deluxe River View Suites are twice the size of a regular Deluxe River View Room, with one main living room area with a pull out couch and a kitchenette. In a separate room we have the master Bedroom with a King Size Bed, a small living area and the bathroom. There are two balconies, each one with its own hammock. All of the Suites have the option of connecting to a Deluxe River View Room with a King Size Bed.

Tivoli Master Suite: The Tivoli Master Suites is unique in the Resort. A combination of a Junior Suite and Deluxe River View Suite, this suite is the most luxurious and spacious of the hotel, with a loft with two twin beds and a bathroom, as well as a separate main bedroom with a King Size Bed, a private balcony and a main bathroom. The room is also located in a very privileged site, on the top floor of the main building, with the best views of the river and rainforest. (Maximum Capacity in existing Beds: 2 Adults / 3 Children)

APARTMENTS:
Historical Villa Apartments: Adjacent to the main resort building, 48 tropical wooden construction apartments built in the 1930īs for the Panama Canal Administration officers, have been carefully renovated and decorated with charming tropical furniture. There is a total of four apartments in each one of the Villas. All Historic Villa Apartments come with separate Living Room areas, kitchenette with wet bar, sink and fridge, coffee/ coffee makers ,bathtubs in each of the bathrooms, satellite TV, Voice Mail data ports and Ceiling Fans as well as Air Conditioning units, which are individually controlled. All Apartments have lovely wooden floors and spectacular views of the Rainforest.

One Bedroom Apartment: The One Bedroom Apartments consist of one large living room area with two sofas and a dinning table for four. Separately you will find the Main Bedroom with one Queen Size Bed. (Maximun Capacity in existing Beds: 2 Adults.)

Two Bedroom Apartment: The Two Bedroom Apartments consist of one large living room area with two sofas and a dinning table for four and Two Separate Bedrooms and one bathroom, which connects to both bedrooms. The Main Bedroom contains one Queen Size Bed and the Secondary Bedroom has two Twin Size Beds, which makes it ideal for families. (Maximum Capacity in existing Beds: 2 Adults / 2 Children under 12 years old)
