ABOUT Hotel Colca Lodge - in their own words:
Built completely of stone, mud bricks and thatch roofs, Colca Lodge is located in the heart of the Valley, next to the Colca River, in the midst of ancestral farming terraces.
With a particular architectonic style inspired in the ancient Inca buildings, Colca Lodge has been able to combine its attractive rustic style with total comfort without damaging the surrounding environment.
Attention at Colca Lodge is tailored to your needs. Our personalized service and the relaxed atmosphere of our facilities will make your visit a memorable experience. All of our rooms have private bathroom, heating, hot water (with solar heating systems) and an outdoor terrace with breathtaking views. The hotel does not have television, telephones or other modern distractions. Our rates include a buffet breakfast. We offer as well restaurant services for lunch and dinner. For your moments of relaxation, The Colca Lodge has a spacious living room with a fireplace, a charming bar and a game room (attic) with an assortment of table games for your amusement.
Our main terrace, with a spectacular view to the Colca Valley, is one of the favorite spots for sunbathing. In the hotels surroundings one can take pleasant walks or take short horseback ridding tours.
Hot Springs:
Designed and built with the explicit purpose of not interfering with the natural environment, Colca Lodges thermal springs obtain their water (80 C) from volcanic sources and conduce them, through a mini canal system, similar to those employed by the Collaguas, to picturesque stone pools.
Closed during the months of February and March (the rainy season) when the river carries more water and obstructs the entrance, Colca Lodges thermal springs seem to appeal especially to kids who apparently find in the charm and simplicity of the rustic design an ideal place for their amusement.Activities in the area:
Colca offers many varied options for cultural and outdoors activities, all of wich can have Colca Lodge as a strategic operations base.
For the most adventurous visitors, Colca offers spectacular trekking routes which may include the two or three day Canyons exploration; the descent from the base of Sabancaya volcano ( 19,607 ft ) to the Valley floor or the excursion to the birth place of the Amazon River. Colca Lodge offers, together with a local travel agency, some of these programs for organized groups.
Our less adventurous guests can choose one of the short walks from the hotel to the ruins of an ancient Collagua settlement, Uyo Uyo, or to the archaelogical zone of Chininea. The Colca Valley is also a privileged area for adventure sports like mountain biking, mountain climbing and professional white water rafting down in the Canyon.
Those interested in the history and sociological aspects of the region can organize their visit around the areas abundant Pre-Inca ruins or to the 16 surrouding villages of Spanish origin, each one with a splendid colonial church .Quick view:
