Along one of the least traveled stretches of
Ruta 40, just 1.5 km off the main road, is Estancia Telken. Your hosts are as friendly as this estancia is remote. Pety and Coco Nauta personally host your stay. Their personal stories, from Pety's grandfather settling this estancia in the early 1900's to the loss of 7000 head of sheep by ash from a Chilean volcano eruption in the early 90's, provide a true insight into the human history of the Argentine Patagonia. |
| Estancia Telken has a living room with overstuffed couch and chairs, a collection of family photos and momentos and a selection of books and magazines on Ruta 40 and the area surrounding the estancia. |
| In the main house, there are a total of 2 bedooms with private bath and one that shares a bath. There is a triple room and bathroom out in the original farm manager's house, just a short walk form the main house. Each room boasts battery operated lights for night use when the main generator is turned off, and plenty of heat is available in individually controlled units. |

Activities include visiting the estancia,
still a working sheep ranch. And the morning ritual with Pety of feeding the lambs. Excursions that are possible include a visit to the Cueva de los Manos which you can get to two different ways - one by road and then hiking down to the valley floor and up to the other side, or a longer drive around to the otherside. With time to look around, this is a long half day visit. Just 55 miles away on the shores of Lago Buenos Aires and another long half day excursion is Los Antiguos. |
