SATURDAY: Embarkation anytime after 8AM, with departure from the port at
11:00 AM, sailing via the Llanquihue archipelago, the Gulf of Ancud and the Chiloe
archipelago. SUNDAY: Today you will notice the difference in the scenery, the rolling open hills of Chiloe having been replaced by the dense green vegetation of the islands of the Guaitecas archipelago. You will cruise the Moraleda and Ferronave Channels to Puerto Aguirre, a remote fishing village. Continue cruising the Guaitecas archipelago, the Ferronave and Pilcomayo channels, the Costa Channel and the Elefantes fjords to with 20 miles of the San Rafael Glacier, where the ship anchors for the evening. MONDAY: At 8:00 AM this morning the ship weighs anchor and maneuvers through the San Rafael Inlet and Tempanos Channel to within a mile of the San Rafael Glacier and sets anchor. Two excursions by tender will take you through the multicolored icebergs, for spectacular views of the glacier. The San Rafael Lagoon is located 400 miles of Puerto Montt. It measures nearly 16 km north to south and 10 km from east to west. It was discovered in the 16th century by the Spanish navigator Sir Juan Garcia Tao. The Glacier emerges from Mount Nevado San Valentin and continues for 15 km to the sea where it forms an impressive wall nearly 2 km wide. From up close you can see the giant ice columns up to 70 meters high and approximately 230 meters deep that regularly sheds huge chunks of ice which break off and thunder into the sea. TUESDAY: Today you will cruise to Quitralco fjord where the SKORPIOS fleet maintains an outdoor and indoor thermal pools. You'll have time to enjoy the pools, take hikes or motorboat excursion. WEDNESDAY: Today you will sail through the Leucayec channel en route to Chiloe, to within sight of the island of Melinka in the Los Chonos archipelago. Then cross the Corcovado Gulf to hug the eastern coast of Chiloe. A stop will be made at Queilen before cruising up the Yal Channel and Castro creek to the town of Castro. THURSDAY: Today you will have time to visit Castro, founded in 1567, with charming Cathedral and handicraft market. Then cruise back through the channels of Lemuy, Dalcahue, Quicavi and Calbuco with Gala Farewell dinner on board as you cruise into the Skorpios home port at Puerto Montt. FRIDAY: Breakfast on board and morning debarkation. |
