THE
SKORPIOS FLEET & THE INLAND FJORDS
|
||||||
The Skorpios fleet was initiated in 1978 by the Kochifa family, who brought their considerable regional maritime knowledge and expertise to design a cruise through the inland fjords of Chile.
First came the Skorpios I, a small cozy 74-passenger ship whose cabins had primarily upper-lower berths.In 1988 the 130 passenger Skorpios II entered service, ofering more cabins with two lower beds and more amenities including in-cabin TV & music systems and designated smoking areas.
Then in 1995 the 125 passenger Super Class Skorpios III entered service. The air-conditioned cabins have music, TV and video channels, in-room safes, telephone and frigo bar. Bathrooms boast hair dryer, marble washbasin and panoramic mirrors. All cabins feature regular beds rather than berths, and there are Master and Junior Suites in addition to double and twin bedded cabins.
Having all been designed and construction personally supervised by the Kochifas family, all three ships share certain standards and services:
Beginning November 2003, the Skorpios III will begin a new cruise in the far southern inland fjords, departing from Puerto Natales for a five night cruise Saturday to Thursday, while Skorpios II will continue to do the traditional inland fjords cruise from Puerto Montt to the Laguna San Rafafel.
