ABOUT JICARO ISLAND ECOLODGE - in their own words:

Jicaro Island Ecolodge is Nicaragua´s most upscale nature resort located on a private island in Lake Nicaragua. The lodge is located just a short boat ride from the colonial town of Granada with spectacular views of the Mombacho Volcano across the lake. Nine private casitas serve as the perfect setting for romantic escapes, activities and active exploration and wellness retreats. Immerse yourself in a magical island experience filled with peace, tranquility and access to a wide variety of tours and activities.    

LOCATION:
We are located on one of the Isletas in Lake Granada, Nicaragua.   Once in Granada, we are short 20 minute boat ride from the Jicaro Island.

ACCOMMODATIONS:

At Jicaro you stay in your own little house, a “casita”. The nine casitas on the island all have lake views and are within a short walk from the pool, restaurant, and wellness center. The casitas are two stories, with a private bedroom and a king size bed on the second floor; and on the first floor, a spacious living area that connects to an outside deck overlooking the lake. The casitas and the furniture are made locally from Rainforest Alliance certified wood. Each casita is equipped with mosquito netting and ceiling fans, and the large doors and windows can all be opened for cross ventilation. Most notably, the oversized hammock and comfy furniture of the deck will invite you to relax and feel the peace of this magical lake.

Early morning coffee and late afternoon ¨sundowner¨ delivery service is available upon request.

Each casita is equipped with:

• Mosquito netting
• Ceiling fans
• Large doors and windows for cross ventilation
• Eco-friendly amenties.

CULINARY EXPERIENCES:
Although secluded on an island we want to give our guests a memorable culinary experience. All of your meals and non-alcoholic beverages are included in the room rate. Breakfast and lunch are served a la carte and dinner is a choice of fresh daily specials created by our chef. Jicaro has an open kitchen right next to the restaurant, so it is a real treat to watch the chef prepare your dinner. The menu has plenty of options and prides itself on the selection of fresh fish from the lake and nearby ocean, local vegetables and fruit, and locally farmed chicken and beef. We believe that when you have fresh, tasty ingredients you can cook very simply and the food will be extraordinary.

Jicaro is a secluded island getaway, ideal for honeymooners or an out of the ordinary romantic vacation.  A stay at Jicaro allows for a perfect combination of relaxing in your room, revitalizing at the wellness center, and actively exploring the flora and fauna that this tropical paradise has to offer.  Can you imagine a day beginning with yoga, leading into time on your private hammock, moving you towards sunset kayaking, and concluding with a candlelight dinner on a floating deck on the lake?   We can.

ACTIVE STAYS:
A stay at Jicaro Island Ecolodge could have an emphasis on relaxing, yoga, massages, reading a good book or just taking endless naps listening to the tranquil waters of Lake Nicaragua next to your casita. But if you are looking for an active multisport experience, Jicaro has also many tours and activities to offer.  Our resident nature guide will be happy to arrange a personalized tour program for you prior or during your visit to Jicaro. The “must do” tours during a stay on the island are kayaking around the Isletas, hiking in the rainforest, the famous Puma trail or visiting the hot springs at the foot of the Mombacho Volcano located just a short boat ride across the lake.

WELLNESS & YOGA
Jicaro is the ideal location for people who want to reconnect with themselves and leave their hectic lives behind for a few days.

Besides Yoga sessions and a variety of massage and wellness treatments, a visitor to the island will be enticed by the fresh and healthy local cuisine, the warmth of the local staff and the authenticity of the overall experience.

Our Yoga deck looks out over the lake and towards the Mombacho volcano; it is a spot that inspires serenity and tranquility.  Yoga classes are available for guests on a daily basis. 

The wellness center is located right on the lake and offers two spectacular open air treatment rooms with private showers. Massages range from Swedish to Shiatsu to Hot Stone treatments and are available on a daily basis for our guests.
