Excellent
design, beautiful views of the bay, the sea and Cerro fortress. In 1913 the Swift
slaughter and cold-storage plant (USA) was built in this zone and as was customary with
Swift, a golf course was added to the plans. The club house was brought over from Chicago
and the club is baptized with the name CHIMONT, Chicago-Montevideo. In the decade of the
30's the famous designer Dr Alliester McKenzie was given the responsibility of
re-designing the club and finally in the 1950's, when the Swift company closed, the club
was renamed with its present name.
