Farm Villa Vanilla is located in the Central Pacific rainforest 10 miles east of Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park. The farm is a tropical laboratory for sustainable agriculture and includes 27 acres of agriculture production and 125 acres of primary and secondary rainforest. Cash crops include our major spice - vanilla, plus cinnamon, black pepper, allspice and a variety of exotic fruits, essential oil and medicinal plants. Vanilla is the farm's major crop. Vanilla is the most popular flavor in the world! It is also the second most expensive flavoring agent and the reason for its high cost is the labor-intensive nature of vanilla cultivation and processing. The vanilla (planifolia variety) grown at the farm is cured according to the "Bourbon method" popular in Madagascar and the Spice Islands. The "FARM TOUR", set in a spectacular rain forest is where you experience the sights and aromas of vanilla, cinnamon, pepper, other tropical spices, essential oil plants, sustainable practices such as; composting, mulching, animal husbandry, permaculture, spice drying and our unique aerated compost tea system disease prevention and plant nutrition. Spice treats and a spice pack are included free with the tour.

A cascading 40-foot waterfall, giant rainforest trees and panoramic views of the ocean are all part of the ride at the Pacific Rain Forest Aerial Tram. Costa Rica 's newest adventure tour destination will serve cruise ship excursions; independent and small group travelers and incentive groups. Researchers and foreign and Costa Rican students are also invited to take advantage of the opportunity to observe life in the forest canopy up close. Open-air gondolas with canvas awnings seat eight passengers and a naturalist guide. The rugged topography of our forest means the modified ski lift skims the forest floor, and then soars to a maximum height of 130 feet above a rugged valley. The ride on the Pacific Tram takes about an hour to travel a half-mile into the heart of a transitional rain forest. The 210-acre private reserve is a transitional area between the drier climate of the northwest and the more humid climate of the southern coast. Your visit to the Rain Forest Aerial Tram includes the hour-long tram ride accompanied by a bilingual naturalist guide (English-Spanish) and a 45-minute guided nature walk. Other languages can be accommodated with advance notice.

MANUEL ANTONIO DIVING:
The dive shop is the first stop: all divers must complete some simple paperwork. This is a PADI guideline. At this time we also get equipment sizing if it wasn’Äôt taken on the reservation phone call. Within a few minutes the divers will be on their way to the pier where the dive team will welcome them on the boat. All gear will be prepared and ready for the divers. The first dive site is within 15 to 25 minutes: As we leave the pier the PADI CERTIFIED Dive Master or Instructor onboard will brief the divers as to where the dive site is and the expectations. Divers begin to suit up, and go down for their first dive.  Upon completion of the first dive the divers have fruits, juices & water during the surface interval, along with a fresh water shower. Surface time is spent cruising the Manuel Antonio waters, visiting with the Dolphins & the Whales, as we cruise around the Park. Within 30 to 45 minutes we are ready for dive #2 at a different dive site. Once again the divers will get a briefing from the Dive Master. Upon completion of dive #2 the boat begins its return to the pier; transportation will be waiting for you. A brief stop at the dive shop for divers to complete log books, then back to your hotel. Famous for its large American Crocodiles, the Tarcoles River forms the Northern border of Carara Biological Reserve on the Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica. The Tarcoles is full of Crocodiles, Scarlet Macaws, Jesus Christ Lizards, and over 120 species of birds. But everyone comes to see the huge crocodiles - so big they have names like "Saddam Hussein" and "Mike Tyson!".  We board a custom-built, flat-bottom river boat at our private botanic garden. Then we glide along this placid river with our naturalist guide, who describes the birds, animals, and habitat in great detail. After visiting the river mouth, we venture up a mature mangrove estuary, where we stop to learn about this remarkable ecosystem. After enjoying fresh fruit and refreshments, we slowly return upstream to our native botanic garden, where our guide explains more about the native plant species of this transitional zone habitat. Afterwards, we take you to a funky local restaurant for lunch and more refreshments. The day continues with a visit to Carara Biological Reserve. One of Costa Rica's most biologically-diverse National Parks, it is home to an enormous variety of plants, birds and animals, including about 300 Scarlet Macaws. Carara is located in a transitional zone rainforest area: it is between the dry North Pacific Coast and the very wet South Pacific Coast. Thus, Carara features plant and animal species from both areas. There is a tremendous abundance of wildlife in this area. Thousands of species of trees, heliconias, tillandsia, orchids, insects, mammals and birds live in Carara. Some of these species are native only to the Central Pacific Coast region. Our professional guide will lead you through this spectacular primary rainforest reserve on a non-strenuous 1.5 - 2 hour guided hike. We regularly see white-faced (Capuchin) monkeys, Howler monkeys, scarlet macaws, sloths and hundreds of different plant and animal species.
