Bosque de Paz

ABOUT BOSQUE DE PAZ:

Bosque de Paz Rain-Cloud Forest is a 500-hectares (1200 acre) privately owned Biological Preserve that, as a natural biological corridor, connects the Poas Volcano National Park with the Juan Castro Blanco National Park.  It is spectacularly rich ecosystem because of its privileged location.

It is located on the Continental Divide with altitudes ranging from 1400 to 2450 meters (4200 to 7350 feet) above sea level.

The number of visitors allowed into the reserve is limited and visits are exclusively for lodge guests. Each guest will have the opportunity to pay a symbolic fee to plant a tree in the Preserve to help with the regeneration of the forest in areas that were once cleared.

The preserve has recorded more than 286 species of birds   since July, 1997, including Resplendent Quetzal, Scaled Antpitta, Black Guan, Emerald Toucanet, Three Wattled Bellbird, Ornate Hawk-Eagle, Zeledonia, and Silvery-fronted, Tapaculo, Black--faced Solitaire, American Dipper, Golden-browed Chlorophonia, among many others, and abundant hummingbirds.
