Sloth COSTA RICA  RAINFOREST

Aguila de Osa Inn

River exploration

GETTING THERE:

Getting there is indeed part of the overall experience!

First you fly by small aircraft approximately one hour to the Palmar Sur air strip where you are met and transferred to the dock, a ride of about 30 minutes.  From the dock you travel by motorlaunch across the bay for approximately 2 hours to the Aguila de Osa Inn.  Of course, when you leave, simply reverse this.

Take note you are allowed only 25 lbs of luggage on the flight so you'll want to be properly prepared.

The Peninsula de Osa reaches out into the Pacific Ocean from southwestern Costa Rica and is described by National Geographic as "the most biologically intense place on earth".

Aguila de Osa Inn can arrange some of the world's best big game fishing. Spectacular runs of Marlin, Sailfish, Dorado, Wahoo and Roosterfish offer unforgettable fishing. The Inn's guides assure a peak experience in the the "catch and release" fishing.

Nearby Cano Island's Biological Reserve offers an undersea garden of spectacular rock and coral formations perfect for scuba diving or snorkeling among huge schools of colorful fish, manta-rays with 15 foot wingspans, barracuda and whitetip sharks.

A variety of rainforest hikes are available in the immense bio-diversity just at the front door of the Inn. Trails cross orchid draped streams and wind through virgin jungle, home to a vast array of exotic birds and mammals. Howler and White Faced Monkeys frequent the canopy and the Scarlet Macaw, Toucan and Tanager are just three examples of the 300 species of birds indigenous to the region. Guided tours of Corcovado National Park and Cano Island Biological Reserve offer the magnificence of the rainforest to its fullest

How to include Aguila de Osa Inn in your Costa Rica visit:

Packages depart from San Jose any day.  You can stay 2, 3 or 4 nights, though a 2 night stay is awfully short for the amount of time you spend getting there.
