ABOUT CALA LUNA BOUTIQUE HOTEL, VILLAS & SPA - in their own words:
Cala Luna Boutique Hotel & Villas can be found on Langosta Beach, in Costa Rica’s Guanacaste province on the northern Pacific coast. Adjacent to Tamarindo, a charming beach community currently growing into one of the most popular and fast-growing coastal towns in the country, our property enjoys all the nearby conveniences of the beach town, yet sits beyond the hustle and bustle to offer guests a quiet escape.

Winding paths weave through Cala Luna’s lush tropical vegetation, connecting charming, spread-out villas — each enjoying a private pool — to the hotel rooms, the property’s Cala Moresca Restaurant and La Caletta Sushi Lounge, and the hotel lobby.

Our extensive property unfolds like an Edenic garden as a short path takes you from the hotel’s restaurants and main swimming pool to one of the Pacific’s most beautiful and exclusive beach points, where soft, white sand dip gently into warm tropical waters.

GETTING THERE:
The international airport is 1 hour away – Liberia Airport and the domestic airport just 10 minutes from the hotel – Tamarindo Airport which features a paved landing strip amidst picturesque farm fields.  location map

BEACHES
There are two beaches just a short walk from the hotel.

Playa Langosta
Located at the far west end of Tamarindo, Cala Luna is just steps from the surf hub, offering easy access to all the town's amenities, yet remaining carefully secluded. While Tamarindo has grown and developed into one of the main tourist attraction of the north, Playa Langosta has kept to itself, a niche of privacy and serenity.  The Langosta area has a number of green zones, where local wildlife like monkeys, anteaters, and coatis are daily visitors.  The area is home to a number of endangered species — both terrestrial and marine — and the local culture prides itself on remaining sustainable for generations to come. 

Playa Langosta (Langosta Beach) boasts pure white sand beaches flecked with multicolored shells, imbued with a natural romance that has made it the site of many Costa Rica weddings and honeymoons.  Small juts of rock in the shallows create natural tide pools where brilliantly hued fish dart, sheltered spots that are ideal for young children to splash about safely. With calm ocean currents and a great position for bigger swells, it’s a local favorite for both beginner and advanced surfers.  At sundown, the romantic scenery beckons visitors to stroll along its pristine shoreline, enjoying the beauty of turquoise and sapphire waters beneath a crimson sky.

Cala Luna is approximately 40 meters away from the beach along a direct access path, in accordance with the hotel's emphasis on privacy.

Playa Tamarindo
Despite its recent growth Tamarindo has managed to hold onto the laid-back, unassuming charm which first made it so popular decades ago.  It is one of the most popular surfing destinations in Central America, and remains a stop on the National Surf Circuit.   In Tamarindo you can enjoy all the amenities a friendly beach town has to offer, from night life, shops, family and gourmet restaurants, galleries and cafes, in the heart of a typical Costa Rican town with a modern twist.

DINING
With a view over the swimming pool, the restaurant and sushi lounge serves gourmet fusion cuisine, offering seafood and fish specialties, Italian cuisine as well as traditional American breakfast and snacks.

LA CALETA LOUNGE
At the Caletta Lounge we are calling our dishes Muses as our intention is to help you harmonize your dining pleasure with them. We firmly believe that "you are what you eat" so eating responsibly and healthily will give you better mental and physical health. All our Muses have been screened very meticulously to respond to our stringent criteria: All Muses are required to have a Low Carbon Imprint, thus all ingredients are grown in Costa Rica. Even better, most of the vegetables we use daily are grown in Cala Luna's Mandala vegetable garden or in both organic fincas (farms) of the Cala Luna properties. La Caletta is also a superb place to take in a glorious sunset for pre-dinner drinks, enjoy the daily ritual of watching the sun sink low at La Caletta, as you sip on an exotic fresh fruit cocktail while listening to the crash of the evening waves.

CALA MORESCA
Cala Moresca restaurant features refined gourmet fusion in a romantic atmosphere of elegance with personalized service. We constantly strive to use locally and organically grown products, hardly use any processed ingredients and only serve fresh fish from artisan fishing. Cala Moresca restaurant is the first in Costa Rica to offer an exclusive sustainable, organic and biodynamic wine list. This way you can harmonize your dining experience by being responsible with our environment.
