HACIENDA EL AROMAL
HORSEBACK RIDING TOUR
The Hacienda el Aromal is considered one of
the oldest cattle ranches in Guanacaste. Its story started 400 years ago when it was
founded by the family Rivas, of who are still the owners today. They are a family of
laborers who have passed down the knowledge of raising and caring for the animals on their
farm. The tour consists of a horseback ride of 2 or 3 hours long depending on the choice
of the client.
The horseback ride starTs by preparing our clients with the typical Costa Rican clothing used for riding horses. It consists of chaps, a hat and a bandana. First we herd cattle with the clients, which is part of the heritage of our sabaneros. After the herding we continue the ride through beautiful plains surrounded by tropical deciduous forest full of exuberant flora and fauna.
Finishing the tour, we pass by the restaurant where we are able to try some tapas like tortillas, the popular cuajada (soft cheese), cajeta (like fudge) and of course a natural fruit drink to refresh us. During of all of this we will enjoy a fantastic show from our cowboys lassoing young cows for branding, demonstrating to us how difficult it is to work as a sabanero cowboy.
After the show we say goodbye to our clients with a smile and wish them a safe trip back to their hotels.
