ABOUT YANKEE WAY LODGE - in their own words:
YANKEE WAY is a great starting and ending point for any
expedition to Chile and is a fascinating facility unto itself. Volcan Osorno, considered
one of the most beautiful volcanic cones in the world, dominates the horizon in front of
the lodge. The compound was carefully constructed over a five year period, with great
attention to detail. Exposed, sandblasted post and beam construction throughout highlights
beautiful local woods, black lava encrustations and old-world style craftsmanship.
Lodging is comprised of private chalets, bungalows and hotel style rooms. The 1,400 square
foot chalets and bungalows are designed to accommodate groups of various sizes. Each
building was carefully designed and constructed from beautiful local woods, in a style
appreciative of local architecture yet incorporating many modern features, including
central heating and details such as fluffy towels, bathrobes and goose down comforters,
which are sure to please your family and friends.
The Lodge features Latitude 42º Restaurant with excellent international cuisine. The
1,500 square foot kitchen was designed and constructed in the United States, disassembled,
containerized and shipped to Chile. It is recognized as the best kitchen facility in the
Patagonia, perhaps the whole of Chile.

Bungalows are two story structures nestled in the native forest. Access is by way of a meandering river rock path through the woods. As you cross your terrace and enter, you will first notice the doors, hand carved from Chilean hardwoods. Four panels of original art, depicting ancient hieroglyphics, appear before you on the living room wall. The master bedroom is on the ground floor next to the living room. Additional sleeping space is available on the second floor for family use. Leather and hand crafted wood furnishings
provide a comfortable environment in this wooded setting. The living room is a place where
you can relax in ample yet private comfort, or, you have room to invite friends over for
the evening. |
Our founder personally traveled throughout Mexico and South
America purchasing artwork and decorations. Most of the furnishings were custom designed
and crafted in Chile and Argentina. Artwork found throughout the lodge, chalets and
bungalows, creates a unique and exceptionally comfortable atmosphere. There are numerous
pieces of original art on the grounds, created by Chilean artists. The current art project
is the carving of a tree, 16 meters high and 6 meters wide at the top. The sculptor has
won various international awards and blue ribbons for his carvings.
There are a numerous cozy spaces, throughout the compound, in which to relax and
socialize. For those who wish to stay abreast of current global events, we have satellite
television, telephone, fax communications, Internet service and e-mail in our reception
and Lounge. If you wish to leave it all behind, your wish is our command.
