ABOUT TIERRA CHILOE ADVENTURE & SPA HOTEL - in their own words:
Tierra Chiloe is located amid the blue waters of Chile´s Northern Patagonia, on a mythical island, dotted with picturesque fishing villages. The beauty of this destination is as much in the landscape as it is in the island residents with their deep-rooted culture and timeless traditions. In true Tierra style, the lodge´s distinctive architecture is in-step with its breathtaking surroundings and comes complete with its own boat the “Williche” for navigating the inland waters.

With only 24 guest rooms, the property continues in the footsteps of Tierra Atacama and Tierra Patagonia by offering exceptional experiences and personalized service to its guests.

Our Surroundings

Tierra Chiloé is located on the banks of the Rilán peninsula, some 18 kms from the city of Castro, on more than 10 hectares which harmonically combine countryside and beach: with green fields and forests bordering an arm of Chiloé’s inland sea. The hotel sits atop a hill at the edge of the sea, a pure and noble architectural gem respectfully inserted into, and yielding to, the natural landscape.

The hotel is surrounded by gentle green hills dotted with brightly colored wildflowers, hundreds of native trees and the Pullao wetland, where dozens of endemic birds and marine species can be observed in complete tranquility.

From all the bedrooms, living rooms and terraces, the immensity of the inland sea is on display, as well as the Rilán peninsula, part of its islands and the imposing Andes mountain chain, dominated by the Michimahuida and Corcovado volcanoes.

A magical journey into the special world that is Chiloé!

GASTRONOMY

The cuisine at Tierra Chiloé includes representative Chiloé dishes, giving you tasty insight into the culinary spirit of this island, which takes full advantage of the excellent local foodstuffs from land and sea.

Island Fare & Tradition

Our restaurant at Tierra Chiloé indulges in the rich produce of the local fishing community, which surrounds the hotel.

As such, guests are treated to a plethora of seafood dishes, where mussels, sea urchins and other ocean treats fresh from the daily catch await.

In addition to close ties with the local fishermen and farmers, our chef makes homemade breads and pastries, and the local specialty, the traditional “curanto”.

This local festive communal meal involves slow-cooking meat and fish over hot stones in deep pits outside, layered with nalca leaves and left to cook for hours; a ritual that is often accompanied by a live accordion player.

The Setting

Inside, the warmly-lit walls are part of a relaxed space with handmade wooden furniture, cozy corners, hand crafted lampshades and those ever-present views of the ocean. Often, our horses can be seen grazing on the grassy pastures surrounding the property.

The Bar

When evening comes, our signature cocktail of Chilean pisco and local Ulmo honey (made from the flowers of a native tree found only in southern Patagonia) is the order of the day. Our welcoming restaurant staff are on-hand to help find the perfect Chilean wine to accompany your meal, and the bartender can be relied on to suggest a digestif for an after-dinner drink next to the copper fireplace or on the outdoor  terrace with its own hearth.

UMA SPA - RELAXATION AND RENEWAL

Our Uma Spa in Chiloé – a place of blissful tranquility with locally sourced materials and all-natural ingredients – encourages you to unwind and rejuvenate far away from your everyday life. After a day of exploration around the island, why not slip into one of our two soothing, heated pools? Another option is the intricately constructed and calming sauna, guaranteed to help you to relax. Be sure to make time in your itinerary for one of the Uma Spa’s speciality treatments, which include shiatsu, reflexology and deep-tissue massages, among other options. The spa itself is warm and inviting, with local wood and heated stone floors, creating a cozy refuge from the often rainy weather outside. Whether it’s by enjoying the steam room or sauna, treating yourself to an indulgent massage, or gazing out at the wildlife-rich Pullao wetlands from the outdoor heated infinity pool, restoration is at the heart of Uma Spa.
