PUDU TRAIL
Half-day trekking
Distance: 802 meters.
Difficulty: Medium.
Location: West Coast.
Estimated time: 1 hour and 40 min.

Located approximately one thousand meters from the West side of the Lodge, beyond the road to the Marina, we will find Pudu Trail, a trek located in the coastal area of the Cliffs Preserve. This trail will lead us up to one of the most magnificent viewing-points on this broken geography, surrounded by amazing combinations of breathtaking views of Native Forest and the Pacific Ocean.

This trail represents a unique opportunity to see the striking scenery and its diversity: the resident flora and fauna and some marine birds that visit the area, relentlessly searching for the survival of the flock.

ALTAVISTA TRAIL
Half-day trekking
Distance: 780 metros.
Difficulty: Medium.
Location: West Coast.
Estimated Time: 1 hour and 35 min.

Located approximately eleven hundred meters from the West side of the Lodge, beyond the road to the Marina, we will find AltaVista Trail, a trek located in the coastal area of the Cliffs Preserve. This trail will lead us through steep and gentle slopes of vegetation sculpted by the uncontainable wind to one of the best view-points located on the shore of the Pacific Ocean— a different natural combination of incomparable views of the immensity of the sea and the appropriate areas created for the enjoyment of our guests.

Enjoy the beauty of the trail: the diversity of the coastal flora and fauna like the Chungungo (Sea Otter) as well as coastal resident and migratory birds will join us in the adventure of learning day after day about the richness and diversity of the coast.

SEAGULL TRAIL
Half-day trekking
Distance: 652 meters.
Difficulty: Medium.
Location: West Coast.
Estimated Time: 1 hour and 10 min.

At a distance of a thousand meters, following the road towards the West side of the Lodge or relaxingly walking along the beach after passing the Marina, we will find Seagull Trail, a trek located on the coastal area of The Cliff Preserve. This trail will take us to one of the viewpoints from which we can observe, helped with binoculars, some islets covered with marine life present in the surroundings of the Marina.

Enjoy with us the outstanding scenery and its beauty expressed by the sunsets, the gentle breeze and the immensity of the sea.

BLUE WHALE TRAIL
Half-day trekking
Distance: 649 meters.
Difficulty: Easy.
Location: West Coast.
Estimated Time: 50 min.

At a distance of 300 meters from the Fishermens House, walking along the beach in front of the Lodge towards the Northwest, we will find the Blue Whale Trail, a trek located in the coastal area. This short, easy-access trail will take us up to a peninsula of rocks shaped by the geographical accidents and the constant breaking of the waves. This view shows us a simple and clear sight of the force of the elements.

This is another excellent opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of The Cliffs Preserve: the immensity of the sea and the insignificant but transcendental of our presence as human beings in the environment.

FOREST GROVE TRAIL
Half-day Trekking
Distance: 1,200 meters.
Difficulty: Medium.
Location: Northern Coast-Forest.
Estimated Time: 1 hour and 50 min.

Following the road to the foliage of the North Coast, out of the Lodge and passing by stables: Here begins the Forest Grove Trail, a trek deep into a forest that mixes the humid and coastal environments due its proximity to the sea. We will be surprised by the diversity of plant species and birds, the relationship of elements and environments delicately intertwined. The Chucao (Scelorchilus Rubecula) and the Booby (Sula Variegata) will fight to catch the attention of the passer-by: the first one with its singing and the second with its incredible accuracy diving into the water for prey.

Two worlds united by a variety of species populating the space of The Cliffs Preserve. An opportunity we can naturally enjoy every day.

OLIVILLOS TRAIL
Half-day Trekking
Distance: 5,388 meters
Difficulty: Medium
Location: Northern Coast-Forest
Estimated Time: 3 hours

Starting at the Lodge, we head North-East towards the Administrative Offices, crossing the bridge located nearby to the Olivillos Trail. From the beginning, this trek will take us deep into the forest, its major attractive being the longevity and diversity of dominant vegetative species, like Olivillos (Aextoxicon Puctatum), Luma (Luma Apiculata), and Coigüe of Chiloe (Nothofagus Nitida), amongst others. All of them dominate the view to the coast from their highest tops.

Resident birds like the chucao and huet-huet will be present in this trail until we head towards the West, arriving to Ortiga Beach. Scenery will change as we start our way back to the lodge walking along the coastal border. Sea Birds such as the Pelican (Pelecanus Thagus), Booby (Sula Variegata), Sanderlings (Calidris Alba) and Cormorants (Phalacrocorax sp) can be seeing in this amazing scenario.

This is an ideal trail for those who want to walk a longer distance and observe at the same time wild life, forest and the coast of The Cliffs Preserve.

GALILEO TRAIL
Half-day Trekking
Distance: 1,360 meters.
Difficulty: Easy-Medium.
Location: Southern Coast-Forest.
Estimated Time: 2 hours.

Starting at the Lodge, we head to the exit road of The Cliffs Preserve and take the detour to the South-West, crossing a nearby bridge: Here begins the Galileo’s Trail, a trek that combines bamboo type of forest with a diversity of arborous species like Olivillo (Aextoxicon Punctatum), Coigüe of Chiloé (Nothofagus Nitida) and Canelo (Drimys Winteri), amongst others, all part of the impressive view to the coast from the trails. Resident birds, the Chucao (Scelorchilus Rubecula) and Huet-Huet (Pteroptochos Tarnii), will surely make their presence known along the trail. After breaking out of the forest we will trek along a wondrous beach of wave-polished rocks, each of which has its own story. Finally, we will head west toward Ortiga Beach, where scenery changes, enjoying a walk along the coast back to the Lodge.

This is an ideal trail for all who would like to try a longer trek: enjoy the wild life, the forest and the coast of The Cliffs Preserve.

ZORRO-GARGANTA DEL DIABLO TRAIL
Half day trekking
Distance: 1,424 meters
Difficulty: Medium-hard
Location: Coast-Southern Forest
Estimate Time: 2 hours

It a short 5-minute ride from the Lodge to the Zorro Trail (Fox Trail). This short-distance, steep sloped trek will lead us directly from the access road of the Hacienda to the Galileo Beach and from there to the Garganta del Diablo (The Throat of the Devil): a brief walk through coastal native forest to immerse ourselves in local history and lore. In a previous life this part of The Cliffs Preserve was part of a coal mining operation; we will come across various pieces of machinery used 75-100 years ago for the exploitation of the mineral resources. Today, this same trail will lead us to the broken but generous geography filled with impressive views of the Pacific Ocean and a rocky shore full of wild life.

This is an excellent trail for those who like adventure, outstanding views or open air photography.

MONITO DE MONTE TRAIL
Full day Horseback Ride
Distance: 4,954 meters
Difficulty: Media
Location: Forest and North-West Coast
Estimated Time: 4 to 5 hours

Leaving from The Cliffs Preserve Stables we will ride towards to southeast exit of the Preserve before heading into the forest toward the Northern limit of the Preserve. Our goal will be to cross the Valdivian temperate rainforest filled with Ulmo (Eucryphia cordifolia), Olivillos (Aextoxicon punctatum), Coihues (Nothofagus Dombeyi) and Canelo (Drimys Winteri), finally reaching Ortiga Beach. Here we will break for a "gourmet" lunch before continuing to the Juancho River and through the Southern Right Whale Trail, a new stretch of coastal forest with gentle and steep slopes with impressive views of the Pacific Ocean. The trail ends where the river empties into the Pacific, signaling our arrival to the northern limit of The Cliffs Preserve. After a snack to regain energies, we’ll begin our return to the Lodge.

This is an ideal excursion for those who like a long, average horseback ride and a constant contact with nature.

PUMA TRAIL
Full day Horseback Ride
Distance: 4,600 meters
Difficulty: Medium
Location: Forest-Southern Coast
Estimated Time: 3 hours

Leaving from The Cliffs Preserve Stables we will ride towards to southeast exit of the Preserve before heading into the forest toward the Southern limit of The Cliff Preserve.

We will go deep into the forest for approximately one hour, feeling the rhythm and strength of the animals, accompanied by one of the expert huasos, local cowboys, keeping us company through the evergreen forest and leading the way to an old, turn of the century, country house. The country house was once used by the tenant farmers for lodging; however, today the house is just a shell due to the passing of time and the inclemency of the weather in Patagonia. After a snack next to the house, in a wondrous grove of ancient cypress planted by the original homesteaders, we will continue to Molino Beach, a beautiful beach which constitutes the southern limit of The Cliffs Preserve. Along this beach we will meet lugeros, local people working on extracting a type of seaweed called Luga. After heading up a small hill, our excursion ends with a marvelous look-out view of the Maullin River as it empties into the immensity of the Pacific Ocean.

This unique experience helps us understand the different ways of life of the people that live in this faraway corner of the world.
