The Cliffs Preserve is a luxury eco-resort located on the pacific coast of Northern Patagonia, which enjoys a climate similar to Northern California. Within our 8,000 pristine acres, you may see a Pudú, at 18” the world’s smallest deer, a mountain monkey that’s barely larger than a mouse or one of the 58 bird species that make their home in the forest. THE LODGE:
With a total of over 20,000 sq. ft., The Lodge is one of The Cliffs Preserve’s highlights. Conveniently located on our principal beach and just steps away from the Cabins, this special setting delivers all the pleasures you can possibly want.

Count dolphins in the bay from the look-out tower or enjoy an invigorating swim under the stars. This special place delivers all the pleasures you can possibly imagine. Seaside restaurant, intimate seating areas, bars, meeting areas, retail boutique, outdoor heated pool and an outdoor barbeque are some of the amenities you can enjoy.

The Lodge’s second floor offers all of our Wellness and Spa facilities and services incorporating products and techniques from The Cliffs International Wellness Retreat sister facilities in British Columbia, Canada and South Carolina, USA. Accompanied by a natural, peaceful and soothing setting, our Spa retreat offers a variety of revitalizing, pampering treatments and wellness services accompanied with herbal teas and health drinks. Facials, scrubs, wraps, wet/dry massages, yoga and meditation are just the beginning towards reaching the balance each of us strives for.

LOCATION:
The Cliffs Preserve is located on the Pacific coast of Northern Patagonia. The Preserve lies roughly two thirds of the way between Chile’s capital of Santiago and Cape Horn, and just north of the Island of Chiloé. The closest airport (aprox. 70 mins.) is Tepual in Puerto Montt. Most international flights to Chile arrive in the early morning and several morning flights connect Santiago with Puerto Montt.  Click here for map.

THE SETTING:
The Cliffs Preserve is located in the midst of two converging ecosystems: the Pacific Marine and the Temperate Rainforest. This convergence provides the scenario for an incredibly rich and diverse profusion of life and biological activity.

On a short walk from your Suite, you can witness the old-growth olive tree forests, where trees live up to 400 years and grow up to 65 feet high. The Preserve area is also home to the famous Andean Alerce trees. Resembling the Northern Hemisphere’s giant sequoias, the alerce can live up to 4,000 years, witnessing countless centuries of history. You also can find a number of endemic flora associated with Broadleaf Evergreen Forests, plants that certainly stoked Darwin’s wonder for the origin and order of species.

These forests are a haven for an incredible wealth of wildlife and unique fauna, including the spectacular Puma, also known as the Andes’ Mountain Lion; the Pudú, which at a mere 18 inches high is the smallest deer in the world; the Monito del Monte or, mountain monkey, a marsupial that’s barely larger than a mouse and considered a living fossil; the Magellan Woodpecker, one of the world’s largest woodpeckers, as well as dozens of other bird species, a real treasure for nature lovers.

The Preserve’s six-mile coastline offers numerous options to witness the power and diversity of the Pacific Ocean. This privileged environment is also home to the most fascinating marine wildlife, including the blue whale, known for being the world’s largest mammal; Humboldt and Magellan Penguins, only seen in this latitude; the majesty of numerous Sea Lion colonies; and the rare Southern Marine Otter among others. Another attraction of the coastal environment is an abundance of marine related birds.

CONSERVATION & COMMUNITY:
The Preserve is located in the Valdivian Temperate Rainforest, one of the most important and pristine rainforests on the planet. While much of the rainforests of the world have been exploited and intervened, this private preserve offers more than 8,000 acres of millenary temperate rainforest intact and in its original balance. We see ourselves as stewards of this rich ecosystem, protecting and conserving it for future generations.

Since our beginnings in 2001, we strive to operate our property with the lowest environmental impact possible. Recycling efforts, organic gardens that reduce commercial dependency and solar-aided heating that lessens fossil fuel consumption are some of the initiatives that allow us to maintain the Preserve’s natural resources and biodiversity.

The Cliffs Preserve is dedicated to the social and economic growth of the Southern Chilean local community by creating working models for sustainable development. We proudly include local workers in the development of this wonderful preserve and our resort staff is formed mainly by Chilean personnel.

Our social responsibility also includes the development of community and educational initiatives, such as local fishing village development and planning, social centers and grassroots health assistance.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
Accommodations include 18 suites distributed between 6 villas, all oceanfront and nestled between the emerald green rainforest and the asure coastline of the Pacific. DINING:
Growing, preparing and eating delicious and wholesome food is an act of celebration and joy. Prepare to savor some of the freshest food you’ve ever tasted.

Our seafood comes from the immediate coast and herbs, spices and fresh garden greens come from our organic garden. Fresh Pacific King Crab and Abalone, Patagonian Lamb, Sea Bass, Mussels and Clams, are some of the ingredients that inspire.

Great care and love are put into the often spontaneous preparation of meals. Our extensive wine collection includes a fine selection of the best Chile has to offer in reserve and premium wines. We have all the ingredients, the most relaxing setting and a team passionate about everything Patagonian to make sure your every wish becomes reality…

MARINA:
Being the only protected cove in a 50 mile radius, our Marina serves as a safe haven for local fishing boats. It is our gateway to the Pacific and is well outfitted with a selection of watercrafts that include powerboats, traditional local boats and sea-kayaks. We have all of the necessary safety gear to assure you a safe adventure on these great waters.

STABLES:
Our stable facilities have been designed to provide the highest standards to both our horses and our guests and are outfitted with typical Chilean saddles and riding equipment.

TRAILS:
Our trails offer our guests a safe way to commune with nature. The Preserve has more than 20 miles of hiking, coastal and horseback riding trails. Trails are designed for every ability level. You can enjoy your activities in easy, medium or challenging trails that go through old growth forests, open fields, pristine beaches or natural ridges.All of them provide stunning views of this private treasure that is the natural environment for more than 110 species of birds, mammals and reptiles, some, seen only on this far end of the world.
