The Costa do Sauipe is a 500 acre complex just 50 miles north of historic Salvador, Bahia.  (Map) The beaches are beautiful and the combination of hotels and facilities makes this the perfect site for a relaxing vacation.

The complex boasts five international-level hotels - Marriott Resort & Spa, Renaissance Resort, Sofitel Conventions & Resort, Sofitel Suites & Resort and SuperClubs all-inclusive "Breezes".

There is also a replica of a Brasilian colonial city, Vila Nova da Praia, with shops, restaurants, bars and six "pousadas" offering a less formal and more intimate way to stay at Costa do Sauipe.

Costa do Sauipe has a tennis complex with 15 tennis courts, one with stadium seating for 400, and all lit for evening use; 4 paddle courts; 3 squash courts; 4 multiple sports courts; 1 small soccer field; 1 18-hole golf course; an equestrian center, five miles of beaches, and an artifical lake for non-motored nautic sports.

As of December 1, 2000, Vila Nova da Praia and it's "pousadas" and SuperClubs' all-inclusive "Breezes" are open and operating. The other four hotels are due to open in December 2000 and January 2001.
