ABOUT TEN RIVERS & TEN LAKES - in their own words:

Located close to the village of San Martín de los Andes, in Lanin National Park, a unique lodge stands out to satisfy your dreams, Ten Rivers & Ten Lakes. A world-class place, witn privacy, peace, renowned history and a beauty that will astound you.

Just a 20-minute drive from the Chapelco airport serving both Junin and San Martín de los Andes and less than a 2-hour flight from Buenos Aires, the lodge has turned out to be strategically located.

In a historic building that has been standing for over 60 years born as the dream of a British actress and model, Renée Dickinson, we have created an environment that integrates top-level comfort and service, built on hill facing Lacar Lake and framed by the majestic Andean Cordillera in the horizon.

Located in Cerro Díaz, the lodge has a spectacular panoramic view over Lacar Lake and the Andes.

The lodge accommodates up to 6 guests in three large rooms, each with private baths and a tackle room, two queen or king-sized beds, a walk-in closet and a deck with a lakefront view. There is also an en suite bedroom with a private living room and a fireplace, ideal for non-fishermen or fishing families (3 persons).

In the main building there is a spacious living room with a big fireplace, a complete self service bar, DVD, Direct TV, books and music.

Arayán Club House is a separate building where you will enjoy all the meals prepared by the on-premise chefs and share your daily experiences while having a delicious Argentine wine, a glass of your favorite drink next to the fireplace.

ABOUT ARRAYNA CLUB HOUSE - in the words of Ten Rivers and Ten Lakes:
The history of Arrayán Club House is fascinating. In the 1930s, when Renée Dickinson came to Argentina to visit her brother Barney, manager of a nearby ranch, she was astonished at the beauty of the surroundings and decided to spend the rest of her life here. She had found her place in the world.

Located in Lanin National Park, she asked a famous Argentine architect, Alejandro Bustillo, to design her house, which would be finally ready after two years and a half. Entirely built of cypress wood by a German and two Chilean builders, the house was ready to open as a Tea House and Lodge in 1939.

After two unsuccessful marriages, she met who was to be her last husband, Alan, an English diplomat. While traveling around Bolivia, she became sick and eventually died in Buenos Aires in January of 1943. She was just 31 years old.

Her brother Barney, who was fighting in the Second World War as a RAF pilot when she died, came back with his wife Frances at the end of the war and decided to take over the place and turn it into one of the most renowned lodges in San Martín de los Andes.

As time went by, Arrayán, which means "where the rays of the setting sun fall" in Mapuche (Argentine aborigine language), received and offered lodging to many personalities, ambassadors from different countries and even the Duchess of Westminster.

Later, Janet was born from the couple that had already become prestigious in the region: Frances, as the confectioner of the cakes that could be had at the tea house and Barney, as a well-qualified guide for
fishing, hunting and mountaneering. In fact, one glacier on the southern slope of Lanin volcano was called after him: Dickinson Glacier.

Today, after 65 years and after resisting snowfalls, winds and heavy storms, the house stands in perfect conditions and is reborn as the dream come true which Reneé once imagined: receiving guests and making them feel as if Arrayán was their own home.

Nowadays, Arrayán is the first wine cellar in Argentina and the only gourmet tea house in San Martín de los Andes. The more than 50 labels of Argentine wines (and others 370 by reservation) that are part of our menu have been selected among the most important and exclusive wineries of the country. Malbec, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Tocai Friulano, Suaternes, Tempranillo, Chardonnay, Torrontés, Gewurztraminer, blends and aged-wines.

ACTIVITIES AVAILABLE:

ABOUT THE AREA:
In this region, which is so close to the Andean Cordillera, nature grows in abundance, covered by forests of Coehues, Lengas and Larches, combined with small groups of Arrayanes and Ńires. Among the animal species, this is the breeding ground of domestic Cervidae like the Pudú Pudú and the Huemul, apart from Red Deer, European Wildboar, Pumas and hundreds of birds, among which the imposing Condor stands out, with its 3.5-metre wingspan. You will also find a transitional landscape, where, without any doubt, the kings are the Cypress and the Red Eagle, and even a desert-like plateau, where the most frequent animals that live in this kind of geography are the Guanaco (the biggest Southamerican camelidae), the Mara or Patagonian Hare, the Pichi or Armadillo, the Ńandú (a non-flying bird similar to the ostrich) and the two varieties of foxes, grey and red.

In the village, you will also find traditional handcrafts made by craftsmen and Mapuche communities of San Martín de los Andes. Woven fabrics, wood carvings, leathers, and hand-made knives are good value purchases.
