Since 1917, when the only access to these remote corners of Patagonia was by boat or seaplane, the visionary pioneer Primo Capraro, enchanted by the magnificent scenery, built a small wooden cabin which was overrun by friends, visitors and fly-fishermen. Thereafter it grew by stages into this excellent and modern hotel. In 1943 his son Francisco built the main central structure with blocks of volcanic sand, granite, and cypress woodwork, that for years was a landmark of the area. Nearly 80 years of history are reflected in each corner of Correntoso.

Accommodations include: Mountain Room, Lake Room, Lake Superior, Suite Junior and Suite Lake.

Facilities include:

• Wine Bar: In a warm ambience you will find a friendly but discreet barman and the best Argentine wines. We receive temporary performers with proposals of jazz, reggae, and Brazilian Music.
• Restaurant: This is very special and enjoys the best view of lake Nahuel Huapi and the mouth of the river. Mediterranean style cooking including trout, deer and red meats, with products of our orchard of aromatic species that meld into the most refined patagonic“cuisine”.With a history of trout fishing in the mouth of the river, we serve informal lunches, ‘asados’ (barbecues), grilled trout, lamb ‘a la cruz,’ etc
• Puerto Correntoso: From our apartments and suites you will enjoy the best views of the mouth of the Correntoso river as it meets Nahuel Huapi Lake.

Activities: An ample choice of options is available to enjoy the lake, the mountains, and its forests, including the following:

• Sailing:  The hotel has a port on the lake for the mooring of motorboats or sailing yachts. Thus nautical activities are possible from our port.
  The hotel offers the use of its two motor launches and the ‘Agua Clara,’ an important 42-foot sailing yacht. Sailing can be organized for a maximum of eight passengers to Isla Victoria, Arrayanes forest, and the little known north of the lake: Brazo Machete, Rincón, and Última Esperanza.
  Picnics are prepared for trips to different lake-beaches of the National Park, reached by boat.
• Soft Adventure: Our outdoor specialist can also coordinate outings for fishing other lakes, rafting, riding, mountain blike, naturalist walks, photographic excursions, trekking or skiing in the nearby hills. Visits to ‘estancias’ and special programs or excursions can also be arranged.
• Fly Fishing: The mouth of the Correntoso river is well known in Patagonia for its fly-fishing. Our hotel has been witness to, and a favourite site for this sport for many years.
